“He is ready to see you in his office.” – she said after hanging up the phone. The door of Rolling’s office was now open, so I made my way in. He was at his desk, as usual, but stood up once he saw me enter.

“Glad to see you again, Evelyn. I hope your trip was refreshing.” – he said with a smile, then pulled one of the chairs for me so I can sit down. I knew what he wanted to hear from me, I was just unsure if I wanted to oblige him and not my own feelings instead.

“I have made up my mind.” – I stated, heading straight to the point of this meeting. He was looking at me, carefully observing my every move from across the desk. “I would like to take the position in Seattle.” Rolling’s face darkened and for a moment, the room was filled only with a thick, heavy silence, that made me slightly uncomfortable, that was until he rubbed his forehead with two fingers and let out a chuckle.
